Coordinator Institute for Gender Studies of Siaulai University
Siauliai University was founded in 1997 after the reforming of Siauliai Pedagogical Institute and Siauliai Polytechnical Faculty of Kaunas University of Technology on the context of the ongoing restructuring of higher education system in Lithuania. It is a university of a c1assical type and has 8 faculties: Education, Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Informatics, Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, Social Welfare and Disability Studies and Technologie.

In 1998 Women Studies' Centre was established and in 2005 it reorganized into Institute for Gender Studies (www.su.lt). The research on gender during past nine years has produced a number of study sources on Women/Gender studies: Women and Science, Women/gender and Literature, Women Career Development, Feminism studies, Women and Health, etc.

The main research topics: strategies for overcoming of gender stereotypes in education system (HE), pilot research of work-life reconciliation at university and in rural areas in EQUAL projects (http://family-university.su.lt; www.equal.lt), social modeling of integrating of women into labor market, women's career, women's participation in S&T decision-making, gender mainstreaming strategies, instruments and quality indicators at vocational education (http://isonomia.uji.es), gender-sensitive indicators in the HE management, empowering women engineers careers in PROMETEA (www.prometea.info), cross-cultural validation of research instruments, feminist epistemology and feminist approach in methodology of sciences. Institute for Gender Studies provides expertise and monitoring on gender equality for governmental bodies, carries out indicators on gender equality indicators and mechanisms in the group of specialists of the Directorate General of Human Rights - DGII at Council of Europe.
